Way back in November, Melody from Mandarine's put out a call for testers for a shawl she was working on. I threw my name in the ring and was lucky enough to get picked! It's a bit of a riff on the hap shape with a couple other interesting details thrown in the mix. Overall, it's a very quick knit (once you get through the initial garter triangle).
For Selkie, I used a mix of yarns from my stash, and I think they wound up working quite nicely. Ages ago, and by ages I mean probably 8 years ago, I picked up a cone of Harrisville Shetland in Loden Blue. The yardage on the cone (900y) is awkwardly in between big and small projects, so it just sat unused. I decided to bite the bullet and I used it as my main colour, as it paired so nicely with the Agrestal Yarn sock (in Seafoam). Finally, I used a tiny bit of some white Jamieson and Smith that's been in my stash for an unknown period of time. I really like this combination, and I've been wearing it over my black/white work outfit for a week!
The only thing I did differently than the pattern was using the 2 contrast colours in the little latvian braid. It's a bit tricky to see, both in photographs and real life, but I like it.
I hope you're all having a lovely Saturday!
