Happy New Year, everyone! I really can't believe how time has flown! How exactly is it January already? 2015 was a big, chaotic, stressful, and occasionally terrible year for me. We moved into a great new apartment, I finished my Master's, got a real job, got a shiny new work certification, knit a bunch (but not enough), sewed even less, drank maybe a million cups of tea and/or coffee, and snuggled the heck out of my cats.
I guess that doesn't sound too bad. I'm sure there's something to say about rose coloured glasses here, but I'll move on.
2015 was a year of changes, so I'm making 2016 the year everything settles down. Much as I hate the idea of resolutions, which I will surely promptly break, I wanted to write out a couple of my woolly plans for this year:
- Tackle my massive amount of WIPs - I recently moved my desk and yarn storage and unearthed at least 10 WIPs ranging from sweaters (2 of them, missing only a sleeve or two), to socks, to hats.. you name it. By the end of the year, my lofty goal is to have fewer than 5 projects on the needles.
- Knit at least 3 new sweaters - I'm feeling highly motivated in this department. For one, James and I are planning a trip to Iceland in June! What kind of knitter would I be if I didn't make myself a lopapeysa for the occasion? I've also got Exeter on the brain after seeing Emily's version the other day, and I picked up Keswick thanks to a lovely 50% off deal on New Year's Eve. I've been dreaming of a simple cabled cardigan since I saw this blog post!
- Knit at least 2 pairs of socks - I have a shedload of sock yarn. I have feet. I live in the arctic. Need I say more?
For the rest of the day, I have an appointment with my sewing machine. I've been wearing the same Scout Tee to work 4 days a week since July! It's time to change it up, I think.
Do you have any goals for this year?
