So, I've been waffling about writing this post and doing this thing for months now, and.. it's time. Settle in for a story, this might get long and full of feelings.
After I finished grad school, I found myself suddenly unemployed at just about the same time my thesis was submitted. Applying for jobs was getting me nowhere, and I was trying to think of what I could do on my own. I finally gave up on my employment search, and after talking with James, I bought a business license and decided to start a little hand-dyed yarn business. I went through the system, made Palindrome Knits an official entity, printed off the license, did a dance.. all the normal things you do when taking your future into your own hands. Within minutes of my license coming off the printer, I received a job offer that I could not turn down. And with that, Palindrome Knits got tabled in favour of real life, a commute, 9-5, and blazers.
I've been at my job for a year and a half now, and earlier this year I was feeling myself get creatively complacent and a bit bored with my life. After all, who wants their day job to be the only thing they do? So, I ordered a huge box of yarn, a bunch of dye and got to experimenting. Right around that time, one of my favourite bloggers/photographers/all around inspiring women Kate Miss was offering unbelievably reasonable branding packages, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to work with her. Kate was an utter pleasure to work with and she did an amazing job with my logo and branding!
After all that rambling, I want to announce that I will be launching the Palindrome Knits Etsy shop on Saturday, November 12th! Before then, I'll be posting a preview of what will be available, and maybejustmaybe a coupon code.
More than anything, I want this to serve as a creative outlet - there are so many amazing indie dyers out there and I hope I can find my little place among all the great stuff out there. Thanks for holding on through this great big ramble, it means so much to me!
