This is technically my last FO of 2016, but I finally got around to taking some pictures today! I started this hat on my way home from my Christmas trip and finished it up during a couple cozy evenings at home. It was a super fast knit, as you’d expect with 6.5mm needles, and I found the cables simple and soothing. This hat is the utter best thing and I'm so happy with it! Not only is it super super cozy and borderline bullet/wind/rain/snowproof, it looks and fits great.
Yarn: Quince and Co Puffin in Kumlien’s Gull
Pattern: Catenary by Erica Smith
Needles: 4.5mm and 6.5mm
I only have one small criticism about the yarn; I try and avoid using a cable needle, but I found it was a bit splitty at times and I had to crack out a needle to help me out. It’s not a big deal, and I would be much more annoyed if I was doing an allover cable sweater or something, but the rows were so quick any suffering was quickly over. The pattern is excellent, well written, with perfectly classic results! I keep thinking about knitting more things out of Puffin because I enjoyed it so much (I'm looking at you, Morning Jacket) but I'm trying to be at least moderately responsible with yarn purchases right now. We'll see how long I can hold out now that the temperature is dropping and I'll be touching this hat a bit more.
I hope you have a lovely, knit-filled weekend!
